Knowing how to make Patterns whether for clothing, accessories or other products is the fundamental principal structure of things being made. Knowing the skills of pattern making always you to know the full attributes of what you are making. This is a great craft to learn for personal use and for entrepreneurship
Pattern Cutting- Beginners
About the Course
This course is suited for those who have never Pattern cut or have limited knowledge, but have some sewing and clothes making experience.
On this course you will learn how to accurately measure the body and learn how to draft a pattern block. The block is the fundamental tool for creating flat a pattern to make a garment.
Following this process you will be required to make a toile (sample) of your drafted block to ensure the fit, applying adjustments if needed. This course will also teach you various techniques specific to Pattern making to enable you to understand the process in garment making.
This course runs over 3 sessions to ensure you have time to learn and understand the processes with an experienced Pattern Cutting/Dressmaking teacher, who will be able to pass on some great tips and able to answer your questions
On this course you will learn:

How to take accurate measurement for the whole body

How to identify and use various measuring and pattern making tools

Draft a 2D Master Pattern

Sew a toile (sample 3D from the 2D pattern)

Learn and sample various pattern making techniques for garment making
What you will need to bring
You will not need to bring anything on your first session everything will be there for you to use, but feel free to bring your own “Pattern Cutting Tool Kit” if you have one. (see below for materials required).
During the course you will need to bring plain cotton fabric, such as Calico, for your toile/sample,

Pattern Making- Improvers
About the Course
This course is suited for those who want to learn more ways of making patterns. Whether you have a design idea, working from a block or want to learn how to make a pattern for an existing garment and want to reshape, resize and reproduce it in different fabrics.
On this course it would be useful that you have some clothes or accessory making experience. You will learn how to take accurately measure to translate these to create your pattern.
This course will allow you to work creatively with pattern making and give you a good rounding understanding of the processes in garment making and creating good fitting clothing.
This course runs over 3 sessions to ensure you have time to learn and understand the processes with an experienced Pattern Cutting/Dressmaking teacher, who will be able to pass on some great tips and able to answer your questions

What you will need to bring
You will need to bring your ideas or the work you are hoping to create a pattern for. If you have pattern making tools feel free to bring them, but you can use the ones we have here “Pattern Cutting Tool Kit”. You will need to bring any fabrics and trimmings if you will be making a sample of your work.
